7-Day Turk-i Jandi Mausoleum

Изображение
Today's practice continues from the Turki Jandi mausoleum. 🕌  Turk-i Jandi mausoleum is located in the old city.we gathered at 12 o'clock near the gallery of fine arts and went to the mausoleum of Turk-i Jandi.   One of the little-studied places in Bukhara is Turk-i Jandi mazar. The materials available about it are known to a narrow circle of specialists, there are no reports about it in guidebooks, although the mazar has existed for about ten centuries and is almost the same age as the Samanid mausoleum in Bukhara. Deep in the old town is the tiny and decrepit Turki Jandi mausoleum, favoured for getting one’s prayers answered. Turki Jandi’s tomb is accessed through the mosque in front of the taller, second cupola. A well inside the mosque contains holy water that locals drink from a cooler near the entrance. Have the chatty mullah show you the sections of original 10th-century Arabic script on the mosque’s doors, allegedly inscribed ...

6-Day Chor-Bakr Necropolis

Изображение
Today I went to a place that I have never been to for the first time😁😆🤭🤭Chor -Bakr is very far. People there thought I was a tourist. Where did you come from? What country are you from? They asked questions😁😄🤭🤫 Chor-Bakr Necropolis near Bukhara Five kilometers away to the west from Bukhara, where the fields are separated by rows of mulberry trees, there is one of the most unusual landmarks – the Chor-Bakr Necropolis, also called the city of the dead. The first graves there appeared thousand years ago, when there was a small settlement of dervishes. But the magnificent architectural ensemble, now visited by thousands of pilgrims was not built until the XVI century. In the X century when Bukhara was under the Samanid dynasty, there lived an old family of Djuybar Seyyids (Prophet Muhammad’s descendants), who played an important role in the city’s life. For centuries the Djuybars were buried in this country cemetery. In t...

The Toki Telpak Furushon is another 16th-century covered market, where the trade was actively conducted. Toki Telpak Furushon literally means "a dome of hats and headdresses". This meaning shows that the main objects of sale were the headdress, turbans and hats. Gold embroidered, fur or beaded hats were very popular among the local population, and foreign merchants. Long before the appearance of trade shops with hats, there was a dome with merchants of old books. After they were replaced by souvenir shops of local artisans, where musical instruments, knives and other souvenirs were sold. Once, there was a "caravan-sarai Kulyuta" near the Furuschon dome. It served as a recreational house on the shopping area for travelers and guests. Currently, there is a blacksmith's museum on the site ...
